Vandal Resistant Doorbox

The Viking W-3000 is a hands-free doorbox built for high-abuse entry points. Its 14-gauge stainless steel faceplate and heavy-duty metal push button withstand physical attack. The unit suits commercial, industrial and multi-tenant properties needing a durable communication station at the door.

Extended Temperature Operation

The doorbox operates reliably from -15 degrees F to 130 degrees F without active cooling. An internal 24V talk battery and 20 Hz ring generator with 3.0 REN maximum load power the audio path silently. Yellow call progress and night light LEDs provide visual status without adding audible noise to the environment.

Flexible Mounting and Wiring

Installers flush mount using the included rough-in box or surface mount with an optional VE-5x5 backbox. A compact 45 degree terminal strip simplifies field wiring connections. Selectable ring cadence, ring count and Push-to-Talk mode adapt the unit to specific site requirements without extra modules.

Questions about this item

How do I flush-mount the W-3000 using the included rough-in box, and which wiring step is often missed?

Mount the rough-in box in the wall opening, then connect wires to the compact 45-degree terminal strip; installers often forget to set the ring cadence and ring-count selectors before closing the faceplate.

What maintenance will the push button and speaker amplifier need over time?

The heavy-duty metal push button and gasket should be inspected periodically for debris or wear; the speaker amplifier and microphone each have a volume adjustment POT that can be re-tuned if audio levels drift.

What is the first limit reached during sustained high-volume use?

The 3.0 REN maximum ring load is the first constraint; exceeding it can prevent reliable ringing on connected devices.
