Vision ZZ-081 RJ45 Ethernet Splitter 1000Mbps 1 in 2 Out Black

Vision ZZ-081 RJ45 Splitter Overview

The Vision ZZ-081 RJ45 Ethernet Splitter provides a single network connection for two devices simultaneously using one Ethernet line. It supports high-speed data transfer up to 1000Mbps across compatible Cat5 through Cat8 cables. The compact black unit measures 2.2 inches wide and weighs 1.7 ounces, featuring a durable metal shell for stable signal transmission. It is designed for users needing to expand network ports where cabling is limited.

Upgrading from Basic Couplers

Unlike passive couplers that cannot handle simultaneous dual-device traffic, this powered splitter uses an upgraded IC chip to manage two active connections at once. The jump is worth it when you must connect two devices such as a computer and a smart TV to a single wall port without running new cables. It requires a 5V 1A USB power supply to operate both outputs concurrently. Buyers who need a true network switch with managed traffic or Power over Ethernet support should look elsewhere.

Installation and Common Issues

Setup is plug-and-play with no drivers or software required; simply connect the input cable, attach two output cables, and plug the USB power lead into a suitable port. Gold-plated RJ45 connectors resist corrosion and ensure reliable contact. The most frequent issue is attempting to run the splitter without the mandatory USB power, which prevents both ports from functioning. Another common mistake is trying to use the device as a 2-in-1 combiner, which the design does not support.
