A USB 3.0 to RJ45 adapter delivering 2.5 Gbps Ethernet with auto-negotiation down to 10 Mbps and support for Windows 11, 10 and Linux
This USB 3.0 Type-A to RJ45 adapter adds a 2.5Gbps wired network port to desktops, laptops, servers, workstations and NAS devices. It supports Windows 11, Windows 10 and Linux operating systems. The adapter connects via a standard USB 3.0 slot and works with USB-C ports when an OTG adapter is used. It is designed for users who need faster wired connectivity than a standard gigabit port provides.
The USB 3.0 interface caps practical throughput below the nominal 2.5Gbps PHY rate, so sustained speeds will be lower than the link speed. The RJ45 port auto-negotiates down to 1Gbps, 100M or 10M and supports standard Cat5e or higher UTP cables at distances up to 100m. Full-duplex flow control and VLAN tagging are supported, but the USB bus remains the bottleneck for heavy multi-gigabit workloads.
This adapter implements IEEE 802.3bz 2.5GBASE-T, so it requires a switch or router port that also supports 2.5GBASE-T to reach the rated speed; a 1Gbps-only switch will limit the link to 1000Mbps. Buyers whose infrastructure runs only at 1Gbps will not gain the 2.5Gbps advantage and should consider whether the higher-spec link is needed.

The adapter auto-negotiates at 2.5Gbps, 1Gbps, 100M or 10M, so it will select the highest speed your switch and cabling support.
USB 3.0 caps at 5Gbps signalling, so the 2.5Gbps Ethernet rate fits with headroom for protocol overhead.
The spec states standard Cat5e or above UTP up to 100m for 2.5Gbps operation.
