Two 3.3 ft Mini-SAS SFF-8087 to four SFF-8482 breakout cables with integrated SATA power adapters, 6 Gb/s per drive, 30 AWG copper conductors
This two-pack provides two internal Mini-SAS 36-pin SFF-8087 male to four SFF-8482 breakout cables, each 3.3ft long. They connect a SAS RAID controller or motherboard host port to four SAS or SATA drives via SFF-8482 connectors with integrated SATA 7-pin data and 15-pin power adapters. The cables use 30 AWG copper conductors rated for 6 Gbps per drive. Builders expanding internal storage with a SAS HBA will use these to break out one host port into four drive connections.
The forward breakout design moves from one SFF-8087 host to four SFF-8482 targets, removing the need for separate data and power cables per drive. Each target connector includes a SATA power adapter, so a single cable run carries both signals and power. The jump is worth it when a controller has limited SFF-8087 ports but the backplane or drive cage needs four individual SFF-8482 connections. It is not for setups that require a middle SAS pin on the breakout side or that plug the SFF-8087 end into a backplane instead of a controller.
The host end plugs into an internal Mini-SAS 36-pin SFF-8087 male port on a PCIe controller or motherboard. Each of the four SFF-8482 tails needs a SATA power cable from the supply to feed the 15-pin adapter. The 30 AWG construction keeps the bundle flexible for routing inside a chassis. The cables do not work with SAS drives that require the middle pin, and the SFF-8087 end must not be connected to a backplane. This frees up controller ports by consolidating four drives onto one host link.

The 30 AWG cable is thin and flexible, while the 36-pin SFF-8087 male connector requires a standard internal Mini-SAS port cutout on the controller or motherboard bracket.
Connect the SFF-8087 male host end to the SAS HBA or PCIe controller, then attach a SATA 15-pin power cable to each of the four SFF-8482 target adapters before powering on.
Replace an adapter if its 15-pin connector becomes loose, shows melted plastic, or if drives on that lead drop out intermittently despite a healthy power supply.
