Converts a 2012 MacBook Air or early 2013 MacBook Pro Retina SSD with 7+17 gold pins into a 3.5-inch SATA drive or USB 3.0 external storage without extra power or drivers
The Vszerda 26-pin adapter lets you connect a 2012 MacBook Air or early 2013 MacBook Pro Retina SSD to a desktop or laptop using SATA or USB 3.0. It supports specific Samsung, SanDisk and Toshiba modules with a 7+17 pin gold connector. No extra power supply or driver installation is required.
The adapter board measures 121mm by 43mm by 11mm, so it converts the module to a 3.5 inch SATA footprint and will not fit a 2.5 inch drive bay. It only works with SSDs that have the 26-pin 7+17 gold-pin layout; 12+16 pin SSDs from 2013-2015 MacBooks are not compatible. Supported operating systems include DOS, Windows 98 through Windows 7, Server 2003 and 2008, Mac OS and Linux.
Verify that your SSD comes from a 2012 MacBook Air (models MD224, MD223, MD231, MD232) or early 2013 MacBook Pro Retina (models MC975, MC976, MD976) and that its gold pins are arranged as 7+17. Do not use this adapter with 2010-2011 MacBook Air SSDs, 2013-2015 MacBook SSDs, or any standard 2.5 inch SATA hard drive. Ensure your host system has a free SATA port or USB 3.0 port for connection.

Use the 26-pin to SATA adapter to install the SSD as a 3.5-inch SATA drive in a desktop; use the USB 3.0/Type C cable to run the same SSD as an external USB drive on a laptop or desktop.
The 26-pin connector matches the 7+17 gold-pin layout on 2012 MacBook Air and early 2013 MacBook Pro Retina SSDs, letting the drive appear as a standard SATA device without extra power or drivers.
The adapter presents a SATA interface, so the SSD runs at the SATA link speed supported by the host controller and the drive itself.
