8K Mini DisplayPort Cable

This Vszerda cable connects laptops or desktops with a Mini DisplayPort output to monitors using a full-size DisplayPort input. It supports bi-directional transmission and works with Thunderbolt 2 ports on MacBook models. The 10 ft length suits desk setups where the display sits further from the source. It is not for users whose devices only offer USB-C or HDMI video outputs.

Build and Connector Design

The cable carries a 32.4 Gbps HBR3 bandwidth rating and meets the DisplayPort 1.4 specification while remaining backward compatible with versions 1.0 through 1.3. Gold-plated connectors resist corrosion and ensure a secure fit during daily connect and disconnect cycles. The bi-directional design means either end can serve as the source or the display without an adapter.

Resolution and Refresh Support

The single specification that decides fit is the maximum supported timing: 8K at 60 Hz, 4K at 144 Hz, or 2K at 240 Hz with HDR10, Dolby Vision and HDCP 2.2. If your monitor and graphics hardware target 8K at 120 Hz or require DisplayPort 2.0 bandwidth, this cable will not deliver those modes.

Questions about this item

What bandwidth does the DisplayPort 1.4 link provide and what resolutions does it cap at?

The cable carries 32.4 Gbps HBR3 bandwidth and supports 8K at 60 Hz, 5K at 60 Hz, 4K at 144 Hz, 4K at 120 Hz and 2K at 240 Hz.

What physical connectors does the 10 ft cable use on each end?

One end has a Mini DisplayPort plug and the other a full-size DisplayPort plug, both male.

How do I install the cable and which way round does it go?

Plug either connector into the source and the other into the display; the cable is bi-directional so orientation does not matter.
