M.2 B-Key WWAN to MicroSD adapter

This converter fits into a laptop's M.2 B-key slot that is wired for USB-based WWAN or 4G modules. It repurposes that interface to accept microSD, SDHC and SDXC cards, letting you add removable storage without using a USB port. The adapter is designed for internal installation in compatible notebooks.

USB bus interface enables hot-swap card access

Because the M.2 B-key connection carries a USB signal, the host system sees the microSD card as a standard USB mass-storage device. No extra drivers are required on modern operating systems, and cards can be swapped while the laptop is running. The converter draws power directly from the slot, so no external supply is needed.

Questions about this item

Will the Micro SD card slot wear out after many insertions?

The slot is a standard push-push Micro SD connector rated for typical consumer cycles; no user-serviceable parts exist, so the whole adapter is replaced if the slot fails.

What limits sustained read speed when a high-capacity SDXC card is used continuously?

The USB bus behind the M.2 Key-B interface caps throughput, so sustained transfers plateau at USB 2.0 or 3.0 speeds depending on the host wiring.
