M.2 2230 to 2242 Extension Adapter

This adapter converts an M.2 2230 slot into a 2242 length, accepting both NVME M-Key and SATA B+M Key modules. It is designed for ThinkPad X270, X280, T470, T480, L480 and T580 series laptops. Builders upgrading storage in these specific machines use it to fit longer drives where only a short slot exists.

When a 2230 slot limits capacity

The adapter bridges the physical gap when the factory slot cannot accept a 2242 drive, letting you install higher-capacity modules that otherwise would not fit. It is not for systems already equipped with a native 2242 or 2280 slot, nor for desktop motherboards using different keying or form factors.
