Mini PCIe SATA 3.0 Controller

This Vszerda expansion card adds two SATA 3.0 ports through a native single-chip design. It fits a Mini PCI-Express x1 slot and delivers up to 6 Gbps per port. The board measures about 30 x 26 x 1 mm and weighs 10 g. It is suited for systems that have a free Mini PCIe slot and need additional SATA connectivity.

Suitable for legacy OS support and basic expansion

The controller works with Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, XP, 2000, Server 2003 and Linux in both 32-bit and 64-bit variants. It supports AHCI 1.0, NCQ and Port Multiplier functions. It does not suit buyers who need hardware RAID, more than two SATA ports, or a full-size PCI Express or M.2 form factor. The card also requires an available Mini PCIe slot on the host system.

Single-lane PCIe 2.0 interface determines throughput

The card uses a single-lane PCI Express 2.0 link with signalling rates of 5.0 and 2.5 Gbps. This upstream bandwidth caps the combined throughput of the two SATA 3.0 ports. Each SATA port still negotiates at 6, 3 or 1.5 Gbps depending on the attached drive, but the PCIe lane is the limiting factor for total data transfer.
