  • 33 TF cable length suits server chassis routing
  • New condition ensures reliable first-use performance

Mini SAS HD SFF-8644 breakout cable

This cable connects a Mini SAS HD SFF-8644 port to four SATA 7-pin drives. It supports 12Gbps SAS speeds for server and external storage arrays. The 3.33TF designation indicates the cable length. It is built new for high-speed data transfer between controllers and disks.

SATA interface practical limits

Each SATA 7-pin link runs at the native speed of the attached drive, not the 12Gbps SAS aggregate. The four lanes share the upstream bandwidth, so simultaneous heavy loads on all drives can saturate the single SFF-8644 connection. Cable length and signal integrity also affect maximum reliable throughput.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 1M length or the 3.33TF version for my server rack?

3.33TF and 1M describe the same cable — TF is feet, M is metres — so choose the unit you prefer for cable routing.

Will the 12Gbps rating give me full speed on my SATA drives?

The cable supports 12Gbps SAS signalling, but each SATA drive caps at 6Gbps, so the link runs at SATA speed.
