This Vszerda kit combines a .5M SFF-8654 cable with a PCIe 3.0 x4 adapter card. It lets builders install M.2 modules in 2230, 2242, 2260 or 2280 sizes using key B or B+M interfaces. The card accepts PCIe or SATA SSDs and presents them through a Slimline SAS connector or a standard 22-pin SATA header.

Upgrade path and fit

The kit replaces a 2.5-inch drive bay with an M.2 slot, freeing space in compact chassis or servers. The jump is worth it when a board lacks native M.2 sockets but offers a free PCIe x4 lane and an internal SFF-8654 or SATA port. It does not serve builders who need SAS or Slimline SAS hard-disk support.

Interface limits

The adapter runs at PCIe 3.0 x4 speeds, so NVMe drives are capped at that bandwidth ceiling. SATA SSDs remain limited to the SATA 6 Gbps link. The card will not function with SAS or Slimline SAS hard disks, and the .5M cable length restricts routing options in larger enclosures.
