This adapter converts a motherboard PCIe X4, X8 or X16 slot into an M.2 Key M connector for NVMe solid-state drives. A 22x70x3mm heatsink is included to lower drive temperatures by 5 to 20°C. The card supports PCIe 4.0 x4 speeds when the CPU, slot and SSD all provide that capability. It fits desktop systems and includes both 12cm and 8cm brackets.

Suits builders adding NVMe storage to a spare PCIe

This card is not for systems that only have PCIe X1 or legacy PCI slots available. It does not support M.2 SATA drives at any speed. Buyers needing to install a SATA-based M.2 module should look elsewhere. Windows 7 users must supply their own NVMe driver as the operating system lacks native support. Some older motherboards cannot boot from an NVMe drive installed on this adapter.

PCIe 4.0 x4 host slot required for full speed

The adapter delivers maximum throughput only when the host platform provides a PCIe 4.0 x4 electrical connection. With a PCIe 3.0 slot the drive will operate at 3.0 speeds. Intel processors prior to 11th generation do not offer PCIe 4.0 support. The board accepts M.2 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 form factors with no stated capacity limit.
