PCIe 3.0 x4 to U.2 adapter

This Vszerda adapter converts a PCIe 3.0 x4 slot into an SFF-8639 U.2 connector and an SFF-8654 Slimline SAS NVMe interface. It is designed for mainboards using drives such as the Intel SSD 750 M.2. The package includes the PCIe card and a standard bracket.

Works with PCIe SSDs only

The card works exclusively with PCIe SSDs and will not function with SAS or Slimline SAS hard drives. Builders needing to attach spinning disks or SAS-based storage should consider a different controller.

PCIe 3.0 x4 host interface

The adapter requires a PCIe 3.0 x4 slot on the motherboard to deliver full bandwidth to the connected NVMe drive. Systems limited to PCIe 2.0 or fewer lanes will not achieve the intended throughput.

Questions about this item

Will the PCIe 3.0 x4 slot limit the speed of a fast NVMe drive?

The adapter runs at PCIe 3.0 x4, so the drive will operate at that generation and lane width.

Does the adapter need active cooling when an NVMe SSD runs all day?

The card is a passive PCB with no fan; heat depends on the drive itself and the case airflow.

What maintenance or replacement might this adapter need over time?

There are no moving parts or wear items on the board; it only needs replacement if physically damaged.
