Adds one USB 3.0 Type-C port, two internal USB 3.0 headers and a 2.4 A charge-only port powered by a SATA connector
This Vszerda add-in card adds one external USB 3.0 Type-C port and two internal 20-pin USB 3.0 headers to a desktop PC. It uses a PCI Express x1 slot and draws supplementary power from a 15-pin SATA connector. The NEC UPD720201 controller provides 5 Gbps bandwidth and is compatible with Windows XP through Windows 8 and Linux.
The jump is worth it when a case provides USB 3.0 front-panel connectors but the motherboard lacks matching 20-pin headers. It also adds a dedicated Type-C port for newer peripherals and a 2.4 A charge-only port for phones or tablets. The charge port requires the SATA power cable to be connected and does not transfer data.
The card occupies one expansion bracket and leaves other slots open. Internal 20-pin headers connect to front-panel USB 3.0 bays or floppy-bay adapters. The external Type-C port is ready for flash drives or docks, while the charge-only port frees the data ports for storage devices.

No published specifications for this item yet.
The card fits any PCIe 1x, 4x, 8x or 16x slot and uses a single lane.
Connect the 15-pin SATA power cable from the PSU to the card's built-in SATA power connector; the charge port will not function without it.
Install the driver from the included CD before first use on Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 or 2003; Linux kernels typically include support already.
