Four-pack VGA-to-RJ45 dongles

This set contains four Vszerda PM01-4 dongles that convert a USB and VGA connection to a single RJ45 port. They are intended for administrators who need to place servers up to 230 ft from an MT-VIKI KVM console using standard Cat5e or Cat6 cable.

Proprietary MT-VIKI compatibility

Each dongle works only with MT-VIKI Cat5e KVM switches such as the 1708MS-IP, 1716MS-IP, 1708MS and 1716MS models. They cannot be used with other brands of Cat5 KVM hardware, so the upgrade is only worthwhile when expanding or replacing dongles on an existing MT-VIKI installation.

Distance and cable limits

Signal integrity is specified up to 70 m over Cat5e or Cat6 cabling. Beyond that range the VGA picture may degrade, and the proprietary interface prevents use with generic KVM extenders or non-MT-VIKI switches.

Questions about this item

What server-side clearance does each PM01-4 dongle need to fit a VGA-plus-USB port cluster?

Each dongle measures 6.8 in by 9.8 in by 1.0 in and weighs .361 kg, so allow that footprint plus room for the CAT6 plug at the server rack.

Which step do installers most often skip when linking the dongle to an MT-VIKI 1708 or 1716 KVM switch?

They forget to use a Cat5e or Cat6 patch cord — not a crossover cable — and to verify the link stays within the 230 ft / 70 m limit before locking the rack.

When should the CAT6 patch cable between dongle and KVM console be replaced to keep distortion-free VGA?

Replace the patch cable if it shows kinks, connector wear, or if the run exceeds 70 m, because signal integrity degrades beyond the rated distance.
