Connects SAS SFF-8482 29-pin drives to SATA 3.0 7-pin motherboards with IDE 4-pin power, 30 cm length, two cables included
This Vszerda cable converts a SAS SFF-8482 29-pin connector to a SATA III 7-pin data port plus an IDE 4-pin Molex power plug. It is built for technicians who need to attach SAS hard drives or SSDs to a standard SATA motherboard header while supplying auxiliary power. The 30 cm length and flexible braided sheath suit tight server or workstation chassis.
The assembly lets you move from a dedicated SAS backplane or HBA to a common SATA controller when the host board includes a SAS chipset or an add-in card such as an LSI 3041 series. The jump is worthwhile when you have SAS drives that also support SATA mode and you want simpler cabling without a full SAS expander. Power must be off before connecting or disconnecting to avoid device damage.
This kit serves integrators who own 29-pin SAS storage and a motherboard or RAID card that presents a 7-pin SATA interface with an available Molex lead. It will not work for systems lacking SAS capability on the host side, for pure SATA drives that need no conversion, or for installations requiring longer reach than 30 cm.

The SFF-8482 end is a 29-pin female SAS connector; the other end is a 7-pin SATA 3.0 female connector plus a 4-pin IDE Molex LP4 power connector.
Power off the system first. Connect the 29-pin end to the SAS drive, the 7-pin end to the SATA motherboard port, and the 4-pin plug to a Molex power lead. Never plug or unplug while power is on.
Replace it if the sheath frays, connectors loosen, or drives drop from the RAID array, signalling signal or power loss.
