SATA to USB 3.0 & USB-C Adapter with 12V Power

This new adapter connects a 2.5 or 3.5 inch SATA SSD or HDD to a computer through USB 3.0 or USB-C ports. The included 12V 2A power adapter supplies enough current for 3.5 inch drives. It supports drives up to 20TB and works with Windows, Mac OS, PS4 and Xbox.

Suits drive swaps and recovery.

The cable design lets you swap drives quickly without opening a case, making it useful for data recovery, backups and system upgrades. It requires an external power brick, so it is less convenient for portable use. Buyers who want a rugged, bus-powered enclosure for daily transport should look at a different form factor.

5 Gbps USB 3.0 speed with UASP acceleration

The adapter delivers up to 5 Gbps theoretical bandwidth and supports UASP, which can raise read speeds by 70% and write speeds by 40% over standard BOT. It falls back to USB 2.0 and 1.1 on older ports. This throughput determines whether large transfers meet your time requirements.

Questions about this item

Does the 12V/2A power adapter run hot or make noise when a 3.5" drive is connected all day?

The included 12V/2A power adapter supplies enough current for a 3.5" hard drive during extended use; no fan is present so operation is silent.

Which host port must my computer provide — USB 3.0 Type-A or USB-C — for this adapter to work?

The adapter cable offers both a USB 3.0 Type-A connector and a USB-C connector; your computer needs only one of those ports.

Will a legacy SATA I drive from an old desktop be recognised when plugged into this adapter?

The adapter supports SATA III and is backward compatible with USB 2.0/1.1, so older SATA drives will be detected without drivers.
