Active cable links OCuLink SFF-8611 4i controller to SFF-8643 backplane at 32 gigabytes per second over 50 cm
This active cable connects an OCuLink SFF-8611 4i controller to a backplane or device with an SFF-8643 connector. It runs at 32 gigabytes per second over copper conductors and includes active latches on both male ends. The 50 cm length suits internal chassis routing in servers or workstations. A free OCuLink interface is the only system requirement.
The assembly works for PCIe-based SSD data links where the controller presents an SFF-8611 port and the target uses SFF-8643. It will not function with SFF-8643 slimline SAS RAID cards, so buyers needing that protocol should look elsewhere. Systems without an available OCuLink port cannot use this cable.
The cable delivers 32 gigabytes per second across a 50 cm copper run with male connectors on both sides. Active latches secure each mating face, and the specification explicitly excludes SFF-8643 slimline SAS RAID card compatibility. Confirm the host side is SFF-8611 and the device side is SFF-8643 before purchase.

The active OCuLink SFF-8611 4i to SFF-8643 cable uses copper conductors and draws only the small amount of power needed for signal conditioning, so heat and noise stay negligible during continuous use.
A free OCuLink SFF-8611 interface on the controller or motherboard is required; the cable connects that port to a backplane or device with an SFF-8643 connector.
No, the manufacturer states the cable cannot work with an SFF-8643 slimline SAS RAID card, so that older hardware is not compatible.
