Vszerda SFF-8087 breakout cable

This internal cable connects a RAID or PCIe controller with an SFF-8087 port to four SATA drives. It is built for system builders adding direct-attached storage to a server or workstation. The forward breakout design links a single host connector to four target connectors.

Sustained throughput at 6Gbps per drive

Each of the four SATA ports supports up to 6Gbps data transfer, matching the SATA III specification. The woven mesh sheath covers half the length to aid routing without trapping heat. Latch locking on both ends maintains a secure connection during continuous operation.

3.3ft length sets the reach

The fixed 3.3ft cable determines how far the controller can sit from the drive backplane. Measure the internal path in your chassis before ordering; the length cannot be adjusted. Buyers needing a longer run or a different connector orientation will need another solution.

Questions about this item

How much heat or power draw should I expect from the SFF-8087 to 4x SATA breakout cable when it runs continuously?

The cable is a passive copper assembly with no active components, so it adds no measurable heat or power draw to the system.

What host-side connector must my RAID or HBA card provide for this SFF-8087 cable to attach?

The host side requires a male SFF-8087 Mini SAS port with latch locking, compatible with PCIe 2.0 x8 lane controllers.

Will the 6Gbps per-port rating work reliably with older 3Gbps SATA drives I already have installed?

Yes, the SATA interface is backward compatible, so 3Gbps drives will operate at their native speed on each of the four ports.
