This cable set connects a host bus adapter, RAID controller or motherboard with an SFF-8643 port to up to four SATA hard drives or SSDs. Each pack contains two 0.5 metre cables, suited for compact server or workstation builds where internal space is limited. The 36-pin SFF-8643 connector uses stainless steel latches for a secure fit.

6 Gbps SATA link ceiling on each drive

The SFF-8643 interface can carry 12 Gbps SAS lanes, but the four 7-pin SATA connectors are limited to the SATA 6 Gbps standard. Every attached drive therefore tops out at 6 Gbps, and the cable cannot raise that ceiling. Builders planning a 12 Gbps SAS backplane will need a different breakout.

Four drives per cable with 0.5 m reach

Each cable fans out to four SATA targets, giving eight drive connections per pack within a half-metre radius of the controller. The short length keeps signal integrity high in dense chassis but rules out full-tower routing or external enclosures. Buyers needing longer runs or more than eight drives must look elsewhere.
