Adds five M.2 B-Key SATA SSDs through a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot using JMB585 switching for up to 1700 MB/s
The Vszerda SI-PEX40142 occupies a PCIe x16 slot and presents five M.2 B-key connectors for SATA SSDs. It targets builders who need many solid-state drives without using SATA ports on the motherboard. The JMB585 controller handles the traffic through a PCIe 3.0 x2 link.
A single M.2 riser or a motherboard slot only adds one drive. This card adds five at once, so the step up makes sense when the chassis has spare x16 lanes but no more SATA headers. The FIS-based switching design keeps simultaneous transfers from choking on the shared x2 bandwidth ceiling of 1700 MB/s.
The board measures 8.5 by 4.5 inches and accepts M.2 lengths from 2230 to 22110. It draws power from the slot and needs no extra cables or drivers. Because the firmware marks the array as storage-only, the operating system must live on a different drive.

The card needs a physical x16 slot even though it operates over two PCIe 3.0 lanes.
Secure each drive with the correct-length standoff and screw for its 2230, 2242, 2260, 2280 or 22110 form factor before closing the case.
The controller is supported in-box by modern operating systems; replacement is only necessary if the card itself fails.
