Server Storage Connectivity

This Vszerda SlimSAS 8i cable links an SFF-8654 host or RAID controller to eight SATA drives. The 1m length suits internal server and workstation builds. Builders who need a different connector count or external ports will need another cable.

Sustained Data Transfer

The assembly is rated for 10 Gbps per lane, so all eight channels can move data continuously without the throttling seen in short burst tests. Workloads that do not saturate every lane will not reveal this headroom.

Thermals and Power

Passive construction means no fan noise and no extra power draw beyond the drives themselves. The slim cable profile aids airflow in dense chassis, though installers must still route it clear of hot exhaust paths.

Questions about this item

Does the SFF-8654 connector add heat or power draw when the cable runs all day?

The cable is a passive link between the SFF-8654 host and eight SATA drives; it draws no extra power and adds no measurable heat during continuous operation.

What host interface must I already have for the SFF-8654 end to plug in?

You need a controller or motherboard with an internal SlimSAS 8i (SFF-8654) port that presents eight SATA lanes.

Will the eight SATA connectors work with older 3 Gbit/s SATA hard drives I still use?

Yes, each SATA connector is backward-compatible with earlier SATA revisions, so legacy drives will operate at their native speed.
