The Vszerda external optical drive connects through USB 3.0 or USB-C for plug-and-play use on laptops and desktops. It reads and writes CDs and DVDs at up to 24x and 8x speeds respectively. The tray-load mechanism handles CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+R, DVD-ROM and CD-ROM media. No external power adapter is required.

Replaces Missing or Failed Internal Optical Drives

This unit restores disc playback, software installation and backup burning on modern machines that lack a built-in drive. The USB 3.0 interface delivers up to 5 Gbps transfer rates and remains backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 ports. The upgrade is worthwhile when internal bays are absent or a slimmer profile is preferred.

Check OS and Port Availability Before Buying

Supported systems include Windows 11, 10, 8, 7 and XP, plus Linux and macOS. The drive will not function with Windows 98, Chrome OS, iPad, tablets, smartphones, TVs, cars, projectors or game consoles. Verify that your device offers a free USB-A or USB-C port and that you do not require Blu-ray, 3D or 4K disc support.
