Active 4K@60Hz DP-to-HDMI converter

The Wavlink WL-CAH5 is a compact active adapter that converts a DisplayPort male output to an HDMI female input. It supports video resolutions up to 3840x2160 at 60Hz and carries audio simultaneously. The unit is unidirectional and requires no driver installation.

Suits DP sources needing HDMI 60Hz

This adapter suits users connecting a DisplayPort-equipped desktop, laptop or docking station to an HDMI monitor, TV or projector where 4K at 60Hz is required. It is not for setups where the video source is HDMI and the display accepts DisplayPort, nor for bidirectional switching between the two interfaces.

Unidirectional DP male to HDMI female

The connector orientation is fixed: the DisplayPort plug attaches to the source and the HDMI socket accepts a standard HDMI cable to the display. This single fixed direction determines whether the adapter fits the intended signal path.

Questions about this item

Does the active converter chip inside the WL-CAH5 need any firmware updates or driver maintenance over time?

No firmware or driver maintenance is required; the active chip draws power from the DisplayPort source and handles conversion transparently.

What resolution ceiling stops me from pushing higher than 4K at 60 Hz on this adapter?

The adapter is specified for a maximum of 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz; higher resolutions or refresh rates are not supported.

How warm does the WL-CAH5 get and does it draw extra power when driving a 4K 60 Hz display all day?

It runs cool with no external power needed; the active circuitry is powered entirely from the DisplayPort source during continuous use.
