Converts an M.2 NVME M-Key slot into four SATA 6 Gbps ports via a Mini SAS SFF-8087 connection using an ASMedia ASM1064 controller
This expansion card converts an M-key NVME slot into four SATA3.0 ports using a Mini SAS SFF-8087 interface. It suits builders who want to add multiple hard drives or SSDs to a system with a spare M.2 connector. The ASMedia ASM1064 controller manages the protocol translation.
Under continuous load the card maintains the Serial ATA 3.0 rate of 6.0 Gbps across all four ports. The onboard heatsink helps the controller maintain stable operation during long transfers. PCI-E protocol compliance ensures consistent signalling without throttling.
Installation requires an M.2 M-key slot and a 70 cm Mini SAS to 4×SATA cable. The 36-pin SFF-8087 connector is keyed to prevent misalignment. Note that SAS hard drives are not supported, so only SATA devices should be attached.
