PCIe x1 to Mini SAS SFF-8087 Adapter

This adapter adds four SATA 3.0 ports to a system through a single PCI Express x1 2.0 slot. It uses a Marvell 88SE9215 controller to provide 6.0 Gbps links for hard drives or solid-state drives. The card is compatible with Windows 10 and Linux Ubuntu. A 70 cm SFF-8087 to four SATA cable is available in the pack.

Builders expanding SATA capacity on a spare x1 slot

The board suits desktop owners who need more SATA connections for storage arrays or Chia plotting. It does not support SAS hard disk drives, so buyers with SAS media should look elsewhere. Systems without a free PCIe x1 2.0 lane cannot use this card. The single-lane host limits total throughput to the PCIe 2.0 x1 ceiling.

Mini SAS SFF-8087 4-port SATA 3.0 6.0 Gbps interface

The SFF-8087 connector breaks out to four SATA 3.0 ports running at 6.0 Gbps each. This single specification decides whether the adapter matches the drive cables and backplane in your build.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the adapter is running at 6.0 Gbps after installation?

Check the link speed in your operating system storage utility or BIOS; it should report 6.0 Gbps per port when SATA 3.0 drives are connected.

Which cables and drives are included versus what I must buy separately?

The box contains the PCIe x1 card and optionally a 70 cm SAS to 4× SATA 3.0 cable; you must supply up to four SATA HDDs or SSDs yourself.

Should I choose the card-only option or the bundle with the 70 cm cable?

Pick the bundle if you need the Mini SAS SFF-8087 breakout cable to connect four SATA drives; choose the card alone if you already have a compatible cable.
