My Passport Ultra 4TB USB-C

The Western Digital My Passport Ultra is a 4TB portable hard drive with a USB-C connection and a supplied USB 3.1 adapter for legacy ports. It targets users who need a compact, bus-powered drive for routine file backup and transport between Windows and macOS systems.

4TB capacity at 5400 RPM

The 4TB platter layout handles large photo libraries, video projects and document archives with room to spare for most personal workflows. Sequential throughput is limited by the 5400 RPM spindle and the USB 3.0 interface, so sustained transfers of very large datasets will be slower than solid-state alternatives.

WD Discovery software and encryption

The bundled WD Discovery application enables scheduled backups on an hourly, daily or monthly cadence and adds 256-bit AES hardware encryption with password protection. A downloadable NTFS driver allows read/write access on macOS, while Time Machine use requires reformatting the drive first.
