Wiegmann SC Carbon Steel Enclosure

The Wiegmann SC enclosure is a NEMA 1 rated carbon steel box finished in ANSI 61 gray powder coat. It measures 10 inches high by 8 inches wide by 6 inches deep with a usable opening depth of 5.88 inches. The 16 gauge construction includes embossed mounting holes and plated steel screws for the screw-on solid cover. It is CSA certified, cULus and UL listed for line protection applications.

NEMA 1 Indoor Protection Limits

This enclosure carries a NEMA 1 rating, meaning it is designed for indoor use to provide a degree of protection against contact with enclosed equipment and falling dirt. It is not rated for outdoor exposure, water ingress, oil, coolant or corrosive atmospheres. The solid cover and screw closure method maintain the rating only when all fasteners are properly secured. Installers must verify the environment matches these conditions before specifying this unit.

Wall Mount Installation Notes

Wall mounting is supported through the embossed holes and self-tapping screws are included in the package. The screw-on cover requires a driver for access, which slows frequent entry but improves security. Common issues include stripping the self-tapping threads in the 16 gauge metal if screws are over-torqued, and misalignment of the cover if the enclosure is mounted on an uneven surface. Ensure the mounting surface is flat to maintain the seal.
