What this product is

The Wix Filters 51720 is a new automotive hydraulic filter from WIX FILTERS. It is intended for vehicle owners and mechanics who need a replacement filter for hydraulic fluid systems. The component is designed to trap contaminants and maintain fluid cleanliness in compatible applications. First listed by the manufacturer in January 2024.

What to check before ordering

Confirm that your equipment specifies the 51720 part number for its hydraulic circuit. Verify the thread size, seal type and flow rating against the service manual to ensure the filter matches the original specification. Cross-reference the housing dimensions and bypass-valve setting if the manual provides them. Using an incorrect filter can restrict flow or allow unfiltered fluid to circulate.

Behaviour under sustained load

During extended operation the filter media continues to capture particles while maintaining rated flow resistance. A clogged element will increase pressure drop across the housing and may trigger the bypass valve if one is fitted. Regular inspection at service intervals prevents excessive restriction and protects downstream components. Replace the filter according to the equipment manufacturer’s schedule.
