Purpose and audience

The WRIARICH OZV8-1 extracts digital and analogue audio from a single HDMI source while passing the video signal through to a display. It suits installers and home-theatre owners who need separate optical or 3.5mm feeds for soundbars, AV receivers or powered speakers.

Interface limits

The HDMI path handles 18Gbps bandwidth and supports 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz with 24-bit, 30-bit or 36-bit deep colour. Input cables up to 10m using AWG26 are specified; longer runs may reduce reliability. Dolby Digital Plus is not decoded on the optical output.

Build and connections

An aluminium shell houses one HDMI input, one HDMI output, a TOSLINK port and a 3.5mm jack. A 5V/1A power adapter is included and required for operation. The unit measures 5.59 x 3.15 x 1.26 inches and weighs 3.2 ounces, allowing discreet placement behind equipment.

What does the 18 Gbps bandwidth mean for my 4K display?

18 Gbps matches the HDMI 2.0 capability ceiling, capping video at 4K 60 Hz 4:4:4 and multichannel audio at LPCM 7.1 or bitstream Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD.
