What this HDMI audio extractor does

The WRIARICH OZV8-2 takes one HDMI source and splits the signal into an HDMI ARC output plus three analogue and digital audio ports. It is built for owners of 4K displays or projectors who need separate sound feeds for a soundbar, AV receiver or headphones. The unit ships with a 5 V power adapter and a user manual.

The specification that decides compatibility

It supports 4K at 60 Hz with YUV 4:4:4 chroma, HDR10, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, plus HDCP 2.2 copy protection. The HDMI input follows the 2.0a standard and the box accepts cables up to 10 metres using AWG 26 wire. Audio formats handled include DTS-HD, Dolby TrueHD, LPCM 7.1, DTS, Dolby AC3 and DSD.

Who should buy this and who should not

Home-cinema builders who want to keep 4K 60 Hz video intact while extracting multichannel or stereo audio will find the OZV8-2 a direct fit. Buyers who need more than one HDMI input, or who require HDMI 2.1 bandwidth for higher frame rates, should look at a different class of switch.

Questions about this item

What does 4K at 60 Hz actually deliver on a TV or projector?

The extractor passes 4K x 2K at 60 Hz with YUV 4:4:4 chroma, so the display receives full-resolution, full-colour video without subsampling.

How does the 600 MHz HDMI 2.0 link limit what I can send through it?

The 600 MHz bandwidth caps the signal at 4K 60 Hz 4:4:4 and HDCP 2.2; higher refresh rates or 8K content cannot be transmitted.

What space and connections do I need to mount the 3.35 x 0.79 x 2.68 inch unit?

It fits in a 3.35 by 2.68 inch footprint with 0.79 inch height, requires one HDMI input and provides HDMI ARC plus SPDIF, RCA and 3.5 mm audio outputs, powered by the included 5 V 1 A adapter.
