SATA to USB 3.0 adapter for 2.5 and 3.5 drives

This adapter connects any 2.5 or 3.5 inch SATA SSD, HDD or optical drive to a USB 3.0 port. It suits users who want to add external storage, clone a drive or recover data from a laptop or desktop without opening the case. The included 12V/2A power supply lets larger 3.5 inch drives spin up reliably.

UASP support and 5 Gbps transfer ceiling

USB 3.0 with UASP protocol reduces overhead during long copy or imaging jobs so sustained throughput stays closer to the 5 Gbps link speed. Actual rates depend on the attached drive and host controller, but the adapter does not throttle after a short burst. Backward compatibility with USB 2.0 and 1.1 ports is maintained.

Gold-finger contacts and flexible cable

The connector uses gold-plated fingers for durable mating cycles and the 30m tape specification indicates high-temperature resistant insulation on the internal wiring. A single integrated cable carries both data and power, so no separate SATA power lead is needed. The compact form factor fits alongside other ports on a busy hub or laptop side.

Questions about this item

Does the 12V/2A power adapter make the UT-3112 run hot or noisy when a 3.5" drive is connected all day?

The adapter includes a 12V/2A supply for 3.5" drives; it has no fan, so operation is silent and heat stays low under normal use.

What must I already have to use this SATA-to-USB 3.0 cable with a 2.5" SSD?

You need a free USB 3.0 port (also works with USB 2.0/1.1) and a 2.5" SATA SSD or HDD; no extra drivers are required.

Will the UT-3112 work with an older SATA DVD-RW drive I still keep?

Yes — the adapter supports SATA optical drives such as DVD-RW, CD-RW and Blu-ray combo units alongside 2.5" and 3.5" SATA disks.
