Connects 2.5 and 3.5 inch SATA drives to USB 3.0 at 5 Gbps with 150 MB/s read speed
The YINGHUA 22 Pin SATA III to USB 3.0 adapter connects a 2.5 inch or 3.5 inch SATA hard drive or SSD to a USB 3.0 port on a PC or Mac. It is built for users who need quick access to bare drives for data recovery, cloning or archiving without installing them inside a case. The cable draws power from the USB port for 2.5 inch drives.
A 3.5 inch drive cannot run from the USB port alone; the adapter includes a DC jack that requires a separate 12 V power supply (not included). Without that external supply the larger drive will not spin up, so the adapter only works for 3.5 inch media when dedicated power is provided. The 2.5 inch drives operate directly from the USB connection.
The USB 3.0 interface tops out at 5 Gbps with a practical read ceiling around 150 MB/s, while the SATA III link also runs at 5 Gbps. Actual throughput will be lower on older USB 2.0 ports (480 Mbps) or on SATA I and II drives (1.5 Gbps and 3 Gbps). The cable is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and earlier SATA revisions, but speed scales to the slowest link in the chain.

The adapter uses a standard 22 pin SATA III connector and a USB 3.0 Type-A plug, both rated for thousands of insertion cycles under normal use.
Sustained throughput is limited by the USB 3.0 5 Gbps interface, which delivers up to 150 MB/s read speed in practice.
The 2.5 inch drive draws bus power from the USB port, while 3.5 inch drives require a separate 12V supply, keeping the adapter itself cool.
