Converts SCART composite analogue signals to HDMI digital output at 720p or 1080p 60Hz with plug-and-play operation
The YINGHUA converter turns analogue SCART composite sources into a digital HDMI 1.4 signal at 720p or 1080p 60Hz. It accepts PAL, NTSC 3.58, NTSC 4.43, SECAM, PAL/M and PAL/N formats from devices such as DVD players, Sky boxes and set-top boxes. The unit is plug-and-play with no driver installation required. Its compact black housing makes it easy to position behind a television or projector.
Maximum power draw is rated at 3W, supplied by an external DC 5V adapter that illuminates a front-panel LED when active. The low consumption allows passive cooling with no fan, so the device runs silently in normal use. Heat output remains minimal even during continuous upscaling of legacy video content. The small footprint keeps cable routing tidy without blocking adjacent ports on the display.
This adapter replaces a direct SCART connection on modern displays that lack the legacy port, letting older equipment work with current HDMI-only televisions and capture devices. The jump is worth it when the source material is standard-definition composite over SCART and the display cannot natively decode PAL, NTSC 3.58, NTSC 4.43, SECAM, PAL/M or PAL/N signals. It does not add missing detail beyond the original analogue resolution, so buyers expecting true high-definition remastering will not gain it.

Connect the SCART source to the converter input, link the HDMI output to the display, then attach the DC 5 V power adapter; the LED will light to confirm power. The step most people miss is forgetting the external power adapter, so the unit stays dark and no signal appears.
The unit has no moving parts or user-serviceable components. Long-term care is limited to keeping the SCART and HDMI ports free of dust and replacing the external DC 5 V power adapter if it ever fails.
The converter draws a maximum of 3 W and outputs only 720p or 1080p at 60 Hz via HDMI 1.4. Under sustained use the first limit is the fixed 60 Hz refresh rate and 1080p resolution ceiling; it cannot scale higher or support variable refresh rates.
