Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714 overview

The Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714 is a 14-inch 2-in-1 laptop built around an Intel Core Ultra 5 115U processor with eight cores. It runs Chrome OS and includes Google AI features for productivity and creative tasks. The 512 GB PCIe SSD and 8 GB of LPDDR5 memory are fixed at purchase.

Who this suits and who it does not

This device suits people who want a thin, light convertible with a 120 Hz 1920 x 1200 IPS touchscreen, Thunderbolt 4 ports and long battery life for web, cloud and Android apps. Buyers who need more than 8 GB of RAM, a discrete GPU, Windows software compatibility or user-upgradable storage should look elsewhere.

The deciding specification

The 8 GB of soldered LPDDR5 memory cannot be increased after purchase, so the choice hinges on whether that fixed capacity meets the workload. If the answer is yes, the 14-inch WUXGA display, dual Thunderbolt 4 ports and 11-hour battery life become the supporting benefits.

Questions about this item

What thermal or power limit appears first during sustained workloads on the Core Ultra 5 115U?

The 8-core processor runs at 1.5 GHz base with a 4.2 GHz max turbo; sustained performance will be limited by the thin 0.71-inch chassis and integrated graphics thermal budget.

How loud or hot does the Spin 714 get when running all day?

Fan noise and surface temperature rise under continuous load; the 3.21 lb magnesium-aluminium body and 120 Hz IPS panel share a compact cooling solution.

Which peripherals or accounts must I already have to start using this Chromebook Plus?

A Google account is required for Chrome OS setup; the 2 x Thunderbolt 4 ports and HDMI 2.0 output accept existing monitors, docks or storage.
