Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714

This 14-inch 2-in-1 laptop runs Chrome OS on an Intel Core Ultra 5 115U processor with 8GB of LPDDR5 memory and a 256GB PCIe SSD. The 120Hz IPS touchscreen supports pen and touch input for creative work. It suits students and professionals who want a convertible device with Google AI features built in.

Thermals noise and power

The thin 0.71-inch chassis weighs 3.21 lbs and uses integrated Intel UHD Graphics, so sustained loads stay modest. Fan noise is audible only during heavy multitasking, while typical office use remains quiet. Battery life reaches 11 hours on mixed workloads thanks to the efficient 8-core architecture.

Soldered memory limit

Memory is capped at 8GB LPDDR5 and cannot be upgraded after purchase. Buyers who need more RAM for virtual machines or large creative projects should look elsewhere. The single 256GB drive also leaves no internal slot for a second SSD.

Questions about this item

How do I install Chrome OS updates on the Spin 714 and what step do people miss?

Open Settings, select About ChromeOS, then Check for updates; the step people miss is clicking Restart after the download finishes so the new version actually loads.

What maintenance or replacement will the 8GB LPDDR5 memory need later?

The 8GB LPDDR5 is soldered and not upgradable, so no user replacement is possible; keep vents clear and avoid liquids to extend its usable life.

What limit appears first on the 14-inch 120Hz IPS touchscreen during sustained use?

The 300-nit brightness ceiling is the first limit; in bright rooms the anti-glare coating helps, but the panel cannot exceed its rated output.
