Rugged 2 TB portable storage

The ADATA HD710 Pro is a 2 TB portable hard drive built for users who need reliable external storage in harsh environments. Its triple-layer construction and waterproof port cover deliver dust-tight IP6X protection and water resistance tested at 2 metres for 60 minutes. Shock sensors halt drive activity instantly when a drop is detected, protecting data integrity during field work or travel.

Upgrade from fragile standard drives

This drive replaces conventional portable hard drives that lack certified shock, dust and water protection. The jump is worth it when your workflow involves outdoor shoots, construction sites or frequent transport where a fall from 1.5 metres or exposure to rain could destroy an unprotected drive and the data on it.

Check USB port and OS compatibility

Verify your device provides a USB 3.1 port for full transfer speed, though the drive will operate on older USB ports at reduced rates. Confirm your system runs Windows XP or later, Mac OS X 10.6 or later, or Linux kernel 2.6 or later. Ensure the USB port cover is firmly closed before any exposure to water.

Questions about this item

What are the physical dimensions and weight of the ADATA HD710 Pro 2TB drive?

The drive measures 0.80 inches thick, 3.80 inches wide and 5.20 inches long, weighing 0.60 lb.

How do I install the drive and what step is often missed?

Connect the supplied USB 3.1 cable to a compatible port; the drive is recognised by Windows XP or later, Mac OS X 10.6 or later, and Linux Kernel 2.6 or later without extra drivers. The step often missed is closing the waterproof USB-port cover firmly after connection to maintain the IP68 and IPX8 protection ratings.

What maintenance or replacement will the drive need over time?

No scheduled maintenance is required. The built-in shock vibration sensing technology halts drive activity on impact to prevent bad sectors. If the drive eventually fails, replace the unit; the manufacturer highlights a 3-year period for the model.
