Plug-In Electret Condenser Microphone

The AKG C104 is a cardioid electret condenser microphone designed for vocals, instruments and spoken-word applications. Its plug-in connectivity and 3-pin XLR host interface suit studio recording, podcasting, live streaming and conferencing setups. The metal-alloy body and included H81 stand mount provide a professional feel for content creators and musicians.

Quick Stand-Mount Installation

The package contains the microphone, an H81 stand mount and a quick-start guide for immediate setup. Simply attach the mount to a standard stand, connect the XLR cable and engage phantom power on the interface. The cardioid pattern rejects off-axis sound, so positioning the capsule toward the source minimises room reflections and feedback.

Consistent Output During Long Sessions

A 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response and 1 kilo-ohm impedance deliver stable sensitivity across extended recording periods. Ultra-low noise performance keeps the noise floor low when gain is raised for quiet passages. The electret condenser element maintains consistent output without the drift that can affect some dynamic capsules over time.

The box includes the C104 microphone, H81 stand mount and quick start guide; you must supply an XLR cable, microphone stand and an interface or mixer with phantom power.

Which version of the C104 should I choose for cardioid vocal and instrument recording?

The C104 is offered in a single cardioid electret condenser version with 1 kΩ impedance and 3-pin XLR output, suited for vocals, piano, strings, horns, drums and amplifiers.
