164ft DisplayPort 1.4 fibre cable

This 164ft DisplayPort 1.4 fibre-optic cable links a DisplayPort-equipped PC or laptop to a monitor, projector or HDTV over long distances. It carries high-resolution video and audio without the signal loss typical of copper at this length. The slim, flexible jacket suits in-wall routing and tight bends. It is built for installers and enthusiasts who need reliable 8K connectivity across rooms.

Gold-plated connectors and hybrid conductor

Gold-plated 20-pin male connectors resist corrosion and maintain consistent contact over repeated mating cycles. The hybrid construction uses tinned copper for auxiliary lines and optical fibre for the four main data lanes, each running at 8.1Gbit/s to reach the full 32.4Gbps HBR3 bandwidth. This combination preserves the high bit-rates required for 8K@60Hz, 4K@240Hz and 4K@144Hz without compression or external power.

Slim fibre build for permanent installs

The narrow, pliable cable body simplifies pulling through conduit, trunking or behind skirting boards where bulky copper cables would kink or exceed bend-radius limits. Fibre construction eliminates electromagnetic interference, so the link stays stable near power cables or lighting ballasts. Fixed male-to-male ends mean no intermediate couplers to fail, but the length is fixed at 164ft so measure the run before ordering.

Questions about this item

Will the fiber cores or the gold-plated 20-pin connectors need replacement after long in-wall runs?

The cable uses a tinned-copper-plus-fiber conductor and gold-plated 20-pin male DisplayPort connectors rated for the full 32.4 Gbps bandwidth, so no user-serviceable parts are expected to wear out under normal use.

What resolution or refresh-rate ceiling will I hit first when driving an 8K display at 60 Hz over the full 164 ft length?

The link is specified for 7680×3840 at 60 Hz, 3840×2160 at 240 Hz, and 2550×1440 at 144 Hz, so 8K 60 Hz remains supported across the entire distance.

Does the fiber-optic design run hot or draw noticeable power when the cable carries 32.4 Gbps continuously all day?

Fiber transmission is passive and generates negligible heat; the cable draws only the small amount of power supplied by the DisplayPort source for the optical modules, with no external adapter required.
