Power source and connectors

This adapter draws 12V power from a standard PSU SATA connector and splits it to two female fan headers. Each header accepts both 3-pin and 4-pin plugs, though only the power and ground pins carry current. The 15-pin SATA male end plugs directly into any free SATA power lead from the supply.

Fan speed behaviour

Because only two pins are energised on each fan connector, the adapter cannot transmit PWM signals or voltage-based speed control. Every attached fan runs at full 12V constantly, regardless of motherboard headers or BIOS curves. Builders who need variable fan speeds must use a different power source or a dedicated controller.

Installation notes

The 10 inch sleeved cable uses 22AWG copper wire and fits typical mid-tower routing paths. The black jacket resists abrasion but adds slight stiffness compared with bare leads. Ensure the SATA plug seats fully; a partial connection can cause intermittent fan operation. No PWM control means fan headers on the motherboard remain unused for these fans.
