ASUS VivoBook 15 S513 Ryzen 7 4700U 40GB 1TB

The ASUS VivoBook 15 S513 is a 15.6 inch laptop powered by an AMD Ryzen 7 4700U eight-core processor running at 2.0 GHz with a 4.10 GHz turbo frequency. It comes with 40GB of DDR4 memory and a 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD. The system ships with Windows 10 Pro 64-bit installed.

Suits home and office users needing high memory

This configuration suits buyers who want a large memory capacity and a spacious solid-state drive for multitasking and local file storage. The integrated AMD Radeon graphics and non-touch Full HD display cover everyday productivity and media playback. Buyers who need a dedicated graphics card for heavy 3D work or a touchscreen interface should look elsewhere.

40GB DDR4 memory in mixed onboard and SODIMM layout

The memory totals 40GB DDR4, split between 8GB soldered onboard and a 32GB SODIMM module. This mixed layout means only the SODIMM slot can be upgraded further, while the onboard portion is fixed. Verify that any future expansion matches the DDR4 specification and the single available slot.

Questions about this item

What RAM module size and type fits the upgrade slot?

The laptop ships with 8GB soldered and a 32GB DDR4 SO-DIMM installed, so the single upgrade slot takes a DDR4 SO-DIMM module.

Which screw secures the M.2 SSD and what length does the slot accept?

The 1TB PCIe NVMe drive uses the standard M.2 2280 slot with one retaining screw; remove the bottom cover, insert the drive at an angle, then fasten that screw — skipping it is the common mistake.

Can the internal battery be swapped without soldering?

Yes, the 3-cell 42 WHr pack connects via a plug-in cable under the bottom cover, so a replacement battery can be fitted by disconnecting the old one and plugging in the new unit.
