580 TVL analog dome camera

The Bluecctv BL-DO8881VF-W-2812 is a colour dome camera built around a 1/3" Sony Super HAD II CCD sensor delivering 580 TV lines of horizontal resolution. Effective pixels measure 537 by 505 and the camera operates at a minimum illumination of 1.0 lux. It is intended for installers who need a straightforward analogue CCTV device with a white housing.

Varifocal 2.8 to 12 mm lens on 12 V DC

A 2.8 to 12 mm varifocal lens lets the installer adjust the field of view on site without swapping optics. The unit requires a 12 V DC supply and transmits a standard composite video signal over coaxial cable, so it cannot connect directly to IP networks or digital recorders without an encoder. Buyers who need higher resolution, motorised zoom or PoE power will find this analogue platform does not meet those requirements.

Questions about this item

How do I decide between the 2.8 mm and 12 mm ends of the varifocal lens?

The 2.8 mm setting gives the widest field of view for covering a large room, while 12 mm narrows the angle to zoom in on a doorway or counter.

What does the 580 TV Lines figure mean for recorded footage?

It indicates the horizontal resolution the sensor can resolve, so fine details such as facial features or text on a badge are clearer than with lower TVL cameras.
