  • Low signal loss with 0.1 dB attenuation
  • Reliable 75 Ohm impedance for SDI video
  • Gold-plated centre pin resists corrosion
  • Nickel-plated copper shell adds durability
  • Connects two BNC male cables or devices

Direct BNC male link

This Boxwave adapter joins two cables or devices that both end in BNC male connectors. It is built for serial-digital video paths carrying HD-SDI, 3G-SDI, 4K and 8K signals. Gold-plated centre pins and nickel-plated copper shells keep the connection stable in CCTV, broadcast and surveillance installs. The 75 Ohm impedance matches standard coaxial video infrastructure.

Installers extending SDI runs

Technicians who need a straight-through barrel to bridge two male-ended SDI cables will find this part fits the job. It does not serve anyone who requires a gender change to BNC female, an angled or bulkhead body, or a different characteristic impedance. Buyers needing isolation, termination or signal conversion should look at other device types.

.1 dB insertion loss

The adapter attenuates the signal by only .1 dB, so the link adds virtually no loss to an SDI chain. This figure is the key check when calculating total path budget for long 4K or 8K runs. If your system can absorb that margin, the coupler will not be the limiting factor.

Questions about this item

What connectors does the Boxwave BNC adapter include and do I need any extra cables?

The adapter has BNC male connectors on both ends so it joins two cables or devices that already have BNC female ports. No additional cables are included.

The listing mentions HD-SDI, 3G-SDI, 4K and 8K — which version should I choose for my setup?

One adapter covers all those standards because it is a passive 75 Ohm barrel; pick it whenever your gear uses BNC male plugs and you need a straight-through link.

What does the 0.1 dB attenuation figure mean when the adapter is installed in a live SDI chain?

It means the signal loses only 0.1 dB passing through the coupler, so picture quality and cable reach are virtually unchanged.
