Connects an SFF-8643 host port to four SATA drives with a 0.5 m, 30 AWG breakout cable
The BUCIER cable connects a Mini-SAS HD SFF-8643 host port on a RAID controller or motherboard to four SATA drives. It is built for storage expansion in servers and workstations where a single high-density port must fan out to individual drives. The 0.5 m length suits compact chassis and backplane wiring.
Use this breakout when the controller offers only SFF-8643 ports but the drives or backplane present standard SATA connectors. The jump is worth it whenever a 12 Gbps SAS HBA or RAID card must serve 6 Gbps SATA targets without a dedicated SATA backplane. It does not replace a native SATA controller for systems that already have enough SATA ports.
Both ends feature locking latches that click into place, reducing the chance of accidental disconnects inside a vibrating chassis. The 30 AWG conductors are thin and flexible, easing routing in tight drive bays. The main pitfall is plugging the SFF-8643 male end into a backplane instead of the controller; the cable is wired host-to-target only and will not function if reversed.

The host end uses an internal Mini-SAS HD SFF-8643 male connector with a locking latch, built on 30 AWG thin flexible copper conductors and 0.5 m overall length.
Connect the SFF-8643 male side to the SAS RAID controller or motherboard port; the four SATA 7-pin female tails attach to the drives or backplane — reversing this will not work.
Replace the cable if any SATA 7-pin female connector or the SFF-8643 locking latch becomes loose, cracked or shows intermittent 6 Gb/s link errors on a drive.
