Connects a Mini SAS 36Pin (SFF-8087) controller to four SATA drives using two .5M cables
This two-pack provides a Mini SAS 36Pin (SFF-8087) male connector that plugs into a host controller and splits to four SATA 7Pin female connectors for the backplane. Each cable is .5M long and coloured red for easy identification. The set suits builders wiring internal storage arrays in servers or workstations.
The assembly is a passive copper cable so it adds no active heat or noise to the chassis. Power draw is limited to the signalling requirements of the SAS and SATA interfaces. No fan or external power supply is needed for operation.
It replaces individual breakout cables that can clutter a drive bay and complicate cable routing. The fixed .5M length works best when the controller sits close to the backplane; longer runs will need a different cable. Buyers who need more than four SATA connections per controller port should look elsewhere.

Plug the Mini SAS 36-pin SFF-8087 male connector into the controller port; it is the host side. Then attach each of the four SATA 7-pin female connectors to the target drives or backplane. The cable is 0.5M long, so ensure the controller and drives are close enough.
The four SATA 7-pin female connectors can loosen after repeated insertion cycles. Inspect them for bent pins or cracked housings, and replace the cable if any connector no longer clicks securely or shows intermittent drive detection.
The 0.5M length is well within the SAS electrical specification, so signal integrity is not the first limit. The practical limit under sustained use is usually the controller's port bandwidth or the aggregate throughput of the four attached SATA drives.
