What this adapter does

The CableCreation USB audio adapter adds a 3.5 mm stereo output and a mono microphone input to any device with a USB 2.0 port. It suits users whose built-in sound hardware has failed or who need a simple way to connect legacy headsets, headphones or speakers without opening the case.

Build and daily connections

An aluminium shell houses the HS-100B chip and two colour-coded 3.5 mm jacks — pink for microphone, black for headphones or speakers. The USB-A plug draws power from the host, so no external supply is needed, and the compact cable reaches 23.6 in for flexible desk routing.

Interface limits

The adapter runs at USB 2.0 full-speed 12 Mbps with 48 kHz or 44.1 kHz sampling for both playback and recording. TRRS single-plug headsets and TRS stereo plugs are supported, though Apple EarPods microphones will not function. Compatibility ends at PS3, most car infotainment systems and smart TVs.
