What this cable does

This 50 ft Cat5e patch cable carries data at up to 1000 Mbps over a local area network. It links a computer, console or other device directly to a router, switch or modem using standard RJ45 connectors. The stranded copper-clad aluminium conductors and PVC jacket keep the link flexible for routing around corners. It replaces older cables that cannot handle modern throughput.

Speed rating that matters

The cable is tested to 350 MHz bandwidth and supports Gigabit Ethernet at 1000 Mbps. That single figure decides whether the run will saturate a 1 Gbps port or become the bottleneck. If your network gear negotiates 10 or 100 Mbps the cable will still work, but it will not raise the negotiated rate above what the endpoints allow.
