Duplicates SATA drives without a PC and connects two 2.5 or 3.5 inch drives via USB 2.0 at 480Mbps or eSATA at 3.0 Gbps
The CoolGear SSX-COPY accepts both 2.5 and 3.5 inch SATA hard drives or SSDs in its two slots. It connects to a host via USB 2.0 or eSATA and can operate two drives at the same time. A dedicated clone button starts a sector-by-sector copy from the primary bay to the secondary bay without a computer running.
Drives slide into the open-top slots with no screws or trays required. The rear eSATA port delivers up to 3.0 Gbps while the USB 2.0 link tops out at 480 Mbps. Power comes from the included external adapter so the unit works completely independently of a PC for duplication tasks.
This dock removes the need to open a case or fiddle with loose SATA-to-USB cables when swapping drives. The jump is worth it for technicians who clone drives regularly or for anyone who wants a permanent, clutter-free station that handles two drives at once.

The eSATA link runs at up to 3.0 Gbps, so real-world throughput is limited by the SATA drive’s own sustained read/write speed rather than the dock itself.
The dock accepts most 2.5 inch and 3.5 inch SATA drives and can hold two drives simultaneously — one in the top slot and a second cabled to the rear port.
Insert the source drive in the dock, connect the target drive to the rear SATA port, power on the unit, then press the clone button; the common mistake is forgetting to power the dock before pressing the button.
