15.6-inch FHD Touch Laptop

The Dell Inspiron 3520 is a 15.6-inch Full HD touchscreen laptop powered by a 12th Generation Intel Core i5-1235U processor. It ships with 8 GB of DDR4 2666 memory and a 512 GB NVMe SSD. Windows 11 Home is pre-installed on the Carbon Black chassis.

Home users needing touch input

This configuration suits students and home-office workers who want a responsive touch display for note-taking or media consumption. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics and Wi-Fi 5 connectivity cover everyday browsing, streaming and document work. Buyers who need more than 8 GB of soldered memory or a discrete graphics engine for gaming or rendering should look at other form factors.

512 GB NVMe SSD storage

The single specification that decides fit is the 512 GB M.2 PCIe NVMe solid-state drive. It sets the total capacity available for the operating system, applications and personal files before an upgrade is required. The platform supports up to 2 TB of NVMe storage, so the drive can be replaced later if the workload grows.

Questions about this item

How do I add more DDR4 RAM to the Inspiron 3520 and which step is often missed?

Remove the base screws, lift the cover, insert the module into the SO-DIMM slot at an angle, then press down until the clips click; many forget to press firmly enough to engage both clips.

Which parts of this laptop will need replacement after a few years of daily use?

The 41 Wh battery will lose capacity first; the M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD can be swapped for up to 2 TB, and the single SO-DIMM slot supports up to 64 GB DDR4 if more memory is needed.

What thermal limit appears first during a long video-editing session on the i5-1235U with Intel UHD Graphics?

The processor hits its thermal ceiling and reduces clock speeds; the integrated graphics share the same cooling, so sustained loads throttle both CPU and GPU together.
