Rugged 14″ touchscreen laptop

The Dell Latitude 5420 Rugged is a 14-inch Full HD touchscreen laptop built to MIL-STD-810G and IP53 standards. The outdoor-viewable display reaches 1000 nits brightness for sunlight readability.

Field workers needing durability.

This unit suits professionals who require a sealed, drop-tested chassis with glove-capable touch input and a privacy-shutter webcam. Buyers who want a lighter ultraportable, a discrete graphics card, or a larger screen should look at something else.

512GB NVMe SSD with quick-release tray

The single specification that decides fit is the 512GB PCIe NVMe solid-state drive mounted on a quick-release mechanism. It determines both the storage capacity available out of the box and the ease of swapping drives in the field.

Questions about this item

Does the 14" 1000-nit touchscreen need any special driver or accessory to work outdoors?

The outdoor-viewable panel is driven by the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 and supports 10-finger PCAP touch with glove, water and stylus input; Windows 11 Pro includes the required drivers so no extra hardware is needed.

Can I keep my existing DDR4 memory modules when upgrading this Latitude 5420 Rugged?

The system ships with 16 GB of DDR4 and supports up to 32 GB maximum; any compatible DDR4 SO-DIMM you already own can be retained or added as long as the total does not exceed the 32 GB limit.

How do I confirm the MIL-STD-810G and IP53 rugged features are active after setup?

Run the built-in Dell diagnostics and check that the quick-release SSD, backlit keyboard, HD webcam with privacy shutter and all I/O ports function; successful operation confirms the rugged design is intact.
